Risk analysis is no longer conducted solely after-the-fact for post-trade risk management and hedging activities. Banks are competing more fiercely than ever for derivatives business and face a litany of regulatory and profitability pressures that require real-time risk, pre-trade information to be at the fingertips of their trading desks to properly manage risk and profit margins.

In addition to calculating fair value, transaction cost and financing cost, banks must now account for a CVA charge, DVA adjustment, and FVA charge to truly capture the costs of conducting derivatives business. As a result, analyzing risk has become an enterprise mandate requiring more holistic approaches to analytics and infrastructure, all of which put a heavy burden on risk teams and computing resources.
